Should I Add Your or Should You Add Me? Google Wave

I recieved my Google Wave invite. I waited and begged for (8) days.

FYI: I am holding onto (5) invite suggestions.

You open Wave and what do you see. Gmail + Docs. Lets just say comfort. The light colors, simplicity, rounded edges giving you a since I have been here before.

I noticed (2) contacts in “contact” window. Are these the (2) I have to thank for my “invite suggestion”? or people in my contacts that also have started using Wave? To be on the safe and curtious side.

Thank you Karoli & Francine

This Is How I Got Started

First, there are (2) welcome waves. Watch and click. Then go to Lifehacker and Smarterware. Read and try. I tried doing a search. Started out with the suggested with:public (you type searches in your ‘inbox’ where it says “in:inbox”)

Holy Kaw!

I spent some time wading through the stream of information (nice analogy. I will probably over use it now) Hint: Every wave you click on will show up in you inbox. For some reason I found it necessary to start trashing the ones I didn’t want. Not sure why. Trying to keep things tidy. This also made made me take other precautions. Do the “Three Google Wave Searches” that Gina Trapani wrote about. I thought it was good precaution knowing that every wave I click could live in my inbox. Besides now you know how to do your own.

What now?

I decided to check out extensions & bots. My understanding is that this where Wave can get interesting or powerful. I also decided that the Tweet and Posterous bots would allow me to play with Wave for now. then I started thinking…

Wave is only as good as your social network. This is the same principal with all things social; Twitter, Friendfeed, Facebook. So…

What’s The Proper Etiquette?

Do you add who you think would be interesting (twitter)?Use the advantages of the smartest (friendfeed)? or TRY to explain why your friends and family need to be using Wave (facebook)?

Two serious questions then:

Do you want to add me?

Can I add you?

Tell me in the comments or explain what you think is proper. Please.

Another thought: I should probably understand too about adding people to your Waves? Because I added people to this one without asking first. Hope everyone understands. Testing.

UPDATE: This didn’t actually get posted through Wave. I did something wrong implementing the posterous robot. researching.

Financing needed for Architecture

I’m not sure what to say. I am an estimator for a ‘Big Drywall’ company. We specialize in the construction of hospitals. Which in the past, it will come back in the future, was a booming sector. We have noticed a significant reduction in the amount of jobs available to bid. Why? Projects are getting shelved or killed by the owners because of a lack of funding. In most cases hospital construction is financed through the issuing of bonds. Everyone is feeling the pinch. Even hospitals. Revenue is down and making owners nervous. So nervous that I know of a few projects that have a superstructure but have been abandoned.

A hospital can take a couple of years to design. There has to be a high number of projects, not just hospitals, that are on the board and have been canceled. In how many of these cases have Architects not been paid?

The War on Cyclists and Pedestrians is Getting Ugly

Another story that has grabbed my attention. I ride on the highway. If it has a shoulder. I do on occasion have to ride the “white line” on roads without shoulders, but I try to avoid them. Most drivers are courteous. They will give me room. Some will even go into oncoming traffic lanes. I really wish they wouldn’t do that.

Question To Drivers:
Do you hate cyclists? Why? Because you may have to slow down? Wait for a safe window of time to pass me? Is it the clothes? Is it because you are too lazy to get from behind the wheel. So you’re jealous?

Read the story from Treehugger. They say the guy was speeding and dragged the cyclists 200 feet! Look at the picture of the truck. The front end looks like he hit a deer or even a car. Yet no ticket. Read the excerpts from other blogs criticizing the victims. Written as though they hate bicyclists. The Governor of Texas vetoed a bill because it gave to much caution toward “vulnerable road users” and puts too much responsibility on the car driver. What?

Vulnerable road users? Would a person on a motorcycle fall into this category?

I try not to think of this while I ride, but it creeps in. I would love to commute by bike. I don’t because of articles like these. I must be getting old.

Google Street View Gets a New Vehicle: The Trike

Way to go Google. Thinking Green.

The first thing I thought when I saw this video was “Can I sign up to ride the bike?”

Have a Google Trike Tour of America. Google, you can use that title if you want. Offering a leg of the tour to interested riders. A stop at each city could then be broken up into smaller rides (depending on the amount of interested riders) through out the city. Routes would be predetermined to catch all of that cities interesting sites.

I think it’s a good idea. A HUGE idea. Google is in the business of getting big ideas done though.

Toy Story 3 Trailer

Let the count down begin… June 18, 2010. This will be my most anticipated film of the year. Shit. I have been waiting for 10 plus years for the to make it. I know that Toy Story 3 was a victim of negotiations between Disney & Pixar a while back. Me, my kids, who are only 8 & 4, cannot wait. If you read this review they ask will it be able to compete with Cars, Rattoullie, Wall-E all “modern” classics?
I say yes.
It will get a lot of leeway. I saw the 1995 release. I shared it with my kids when they were just babies. They are 8 & 4 now. I don’t think they really understand when it was originally released.

Sure we’ll be able to tell that 3D technology has come a long way. But Toy Story is a classic and we are all going to tolerate a better looking Buzz & Woody.

The only way Pixar this movie would have failed. Is if they would not have used all the original voices.

So just 246 days left.

Meghan McCain Twitter Photo Creates Uproar

Colbert Report Full Episodes Political Humor Michael Moore

I’m not sure what the hub-bub is; She’s a beautiful Republican? Actually, HOT Republicans scare Democrats. They can’t get over Palin.

I have not paid attention to Meghan on Twitter or during McCain’s campaign. The thing is… she makes sense to me.

Pro-Sex: Doesn’t believe abstinence is the only way to teach kids about sex.
Pro-Gay Marriage: Who does and would it hurt?

Check out her interview on The Colbert Report (It’s dated, but like I said, I wasn’t paying attention)

Obama, Does It Take Winning A Nobel To Get An Email From You? What #Obamashould Do.

I wanted to share this article on TechCrunch. I am not sharing it because I completely agree with the approach. I do however completely agree with how the concept was developed; frustration.

Frustrations I have previously promised not to post about.

However, what is more fascinating are the comments from this post. The name calling. Because he is questioning what Obama has done with his trust. What Obama and his Administration is doing with his vote. Questioning is what is supposed to happen. It is what helps to keep your views, and those whom you believe in, in check.

A leader will listen. Then with confidence, implement what he believes is right.

Miley Cyrus NO MORE TWITTER!!!

Miley obviously didn’t understand the use of Twitter if she was “living for moments and not for people” (paraphrased). I would say she was getting caught up in trying to “trend” every tweet. Sharing too much too often. Twitter can do that.

I have been accused of tweeting when I should have been listening. It’s funny to say but you have to tweet responsibly. The same way you would decide when it’s OK to take a cell-phone call or respond to a text. I am guessing Miley, as well as us, have a hard time with that one too.

This smells like a stunt. Wanting an overwhelming public outcry from her fans to come back.

Harry Connick Jr: Hey, Hey, It’s Saturday Night

<p style=”font-size:11px; font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #999; margin-top: 5px; background: transparent; text-align: center; width: 425px;”>Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News, World News, and News about the Economy

Full disclosure. Harry Connick Jr is awesome.

Do you believe he is a hypocrite? Did the group mean it as a tribute?

Both answers are NO.

If it were a tribute:

 1. The group wouldn’t have sucked
 2. They also would not have painted their faces
Because everyone would have recognized the singing and the dancing from the iconic group.
