Top Gear America…Not A Chance
I am sitting here enjoying Top Gear on BBC America. The show so enjoyable I watch with my three year old son, who usually has his mouth wide open in amazement, and I still DVR it to watch it again later.
Why?
1. Personality: The personalities of the three host. They are entertaining and they each compliment each others personalities and sense of humors. I think they call it chemistry. The chemistry that is contgiously gitty.
2. Beauty: The beauty comes from the environment and camera work.
3. Sound: Did I mention they are English. Which adds to the enjoyment.
Our American version of Top Gear: One of the hosts, Adam Carolla…really? Can he even drive a car? We already know he’s not funny and his personality…eh.
I will NOT watch the American Top Gear, in protest and support for the original.
Prediction: Top Gear America will be an obvious product placement advertisement for the big three and Toyota.
O.G. Top Gear entertaining because it is not an advertisement or brought to you by.
Didn’t See This Coming…Live From Saturday Night
What a shock, I sit down to watch Saturday Night Live and what do I see? Another parody of the Democratic Debate, and <a href=”Clinton is being“>Clinton is being demonized/victimized by…
How about a reaction… an editorial response…
OMG Hillary is human, still robotic and no comedic timing.
OK she was on SNL, but did she tempt anyone to vote for her? She asked you to. I can’t even give her credit for making fun of herself. What do you call that? When you….
Make Fun Of Yourself
There must be something about Weekend Update that makes politicians want to make asses of themselves. At least give them a platform to get there shortcomings off their chests, and enters Rudy Guiliani. [In July, I thought for sure my boy had this wrapped up.]
Seth Meyers asked,”Would you’ve done anything differently?”
[Guiliani]“I’ve given it a lot of thought and realize that my one key mistake…when I hosted this show and wore a dress. I really wish I could have taken it back.”
[Seth] “You don’t think skipping…early primaries and betting everything on Florida?
[Guiliani]“The Florida plan was solid. But the dress killed me.”
Climbing, Ice, Mountain?

If someone asked you “Hey, do you wanna go ice climbing?” What is needed?
1. Ice
2. Mountain
Number one, ice, definitely needed for ice climbing. Number two, mountain, you’d think but…no. In Cedar Falls Iowa, instead of a mountain, all that’s needed is a grain silo. A college professor from the University of Northern Iowa offers an ice climbing class for college credits. If you watch the news clip, he explains how to get the ice to form on the silo. In Iowa, a third item to our ‘needed’ list…a garden hose.
…hook a garden hose up to a pulley system and send it up the silo…
A couple of things to point out. This is has been going on for awhile. When I was looking up the story, which I saw on the local news tonight, I came across another blog talking about it. That story was from 2004. The story gets around. The second point, the story I am linking to is from a TV station in California…Still wondering why people make jokes about people from the midwest.

Are Writers Fighting For The Write Things?
[photo via NYTimes] 12:01 am on November 5, 2007 marked the start of the WGA strikes. Feeling duped over a back-channel negotiation. The offer on the table was [my translation] the writers would drop their DVD residual demands and they (They being the AMPTP, producers) would cut them (writers) in on the internet downloads for movies and television. [via Deadline Hollywood Daily]
Why are they pushing for revenue from internet downloads? movies or television?
History has shown that their is not a money maker among either on the internet. The only company making money providing TV shows on the internet is iTunes. The shows available are dwindling because networks are running. Why are they running? haggling over prices. Steve Jobs, rightly so, opined about how music and TV shows are not at the right price points. NBC decided to pull it shows, with hopes of creating an iTunes killer, Hulu.com.
Hulu.com is in private beta and is impressing. Not a iTunes killer. If you read TechCrunch’s review you’ll notice THE drawback that will send Hulu nowhere fast, you can’t download a show to play on your iPod. Think of Hulu as an on-demand internet TV channel.
What’s The Purpose?
NBC and News Corp., along with others, want to control their content from piracy. Piracy, remember is not only recording the shows off TV and selling them, but anything that directs attention away from them. An example to explain this thought: Remember when Justin Timberlake hosted Saturday Night Live and they did a Lazy Sunday skit “My Dick In A Box”? Well that video was on YouTube and was viewed a million times in a matter of days. Well people directed their eyes to YouTube instead of Saturday Night Lives webpage. All those eyes were:
looking at C-O-N-T-E-N-T that created the T-R-A-F-F-I-C that clicked on the A-D-S that made the M-O-N-E-Y for YouTube.
NBC didn’t get a taste.
Note: If you are in the ‘mob’ you always kick-back a taste of the action to your boss. Otherwise the boss will get rid o’you and take it all.
Hulu is not a YouTube killer either. You can’t upload your user generated videos, but you can link and embed the videos on blogs. That is what creates the viral ‘wheel-a-rollin’. All of which gets directed back to Hulu and it’s webpage ads.
Conclusion
WGA, DO NOT GIVE-UP YOUR DVD RESIDUALS! I think they are hyping the internet. Look at how badly the Music Labels are F’ing up the online music industry in hopes of controlling copyrights. AD’s are going to pay up to a point, but only on a proven model. Don’t get ‘ADSENSED’ like Bloggers are, thinking that if they have a text-ad link they are going to retire at 40. Or better yet, don’t let [insert MEGA TV NETWORK] tell you they are going become ‘GOOGLE’ and generate BILLIONS in Ad Revenue.
Check out TechCrunch’s- Earth To Big TV too, you’ll get an even greater sense of how disconnected TV is.

Colbert ‘Real’ Candidate
When is the joke up?
Is it a joke? What if America is in such a need for a change that we take this too far?
Well I guess it can’t happen, but is Colbert’s satire going to get him and Comedy Central into trouble? I personally like the distraction, because even though it is a joke, the joke can be spotted in the ‘real’ candidates. Again, because of the joke, everyone is learning more about the laws candidates have to follow. A good example: Can Colbert’s candidacy be sponsored by Dorritos?
Is The Colbert Report going to be a joke because it has to shuffle all the candidates throughout the season? I’m sure Colbert and Comedy Central could careless right now, because their ratings are clouding the next move.
Read Josh Green’s The Colbert Notion and see how his candidacy will effect the whole race.
Talking About Chris Matthews
Chris Matthews obviously looking for a safe haven to plug his book, goes into the Daily Show. Jon Stewart pulled no punches. As you’ll see from watching the video, Chris gets upset and begins to lash back
Chris:…You are obviously afraid of this book…
Jon: …No, I just don’t agree with it (paraphrasing)…
My opinion, I completely agree with Jon Stewart, this book is just fundamentally wrong! Kid’s do not take a ‘political’ road for life.
