M.I.T. Suing Gehry
[photo via Google Images]M.I.T. is suing Gehry over design flaws of it’s Stata Center. Gehry not known for his straight walls, is probably in a little trouble. As long as M.I.T. can prove it’s findings ie: pictures of water stains, or kids dodging falling snow.
What Will They Win? money.
They have to take responsibility for wanting something original. It’s not as though they didn’t know what they were getting. This however, doesn’t give Gehry the right to design something that is going to leak or create a hazard. Gehry still has to be brilliant enough to keep that in mind. Even while creating beautiful architecture.
I mean, are they demanding he tear it down and rebuild it like a ‘traditional’ building?
Dodging falling snow, drainage problems, Gehry problems.
Leaking roof, mold growing on brick (if it is really mold. Mold has to be constantly moist. Hard to do when is on the exterior of the building.), Skanska problems.
